Partner Visa

If you have a spouse, de facto partner or interdependent partner (same sex partner) who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible for this visa.

You do not gain a permanent residence visa immediately but will be granted a 2 year provisional (temporary) visa until you satisfy the requirements to obtain a permanent visa.

As the visa applicant, you must:

• be the spouse, de factor or interdependent partner of the sponsor
• be in a genuine and continuing relationship with your partner
• be living together and in a mutually exclusive relationship

As the Sponsor, you must:

• be the spouse, de factor or interdependent partner of the sponsor
• be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
• undertake to fulfil the sponsorship obligations required of you
