Family

The Australian migration program has a number of visas for persons wishing to sponsor parents, prospective spouse, dependent child, orphan relative and remaining relative. When it comes to your family don’t take a chance, contact us for the best advice and service.

Prospective Spouse Fiancé(e)

If you are engaged, but not yet married, to an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and will be coming to Australia to get married, then you may be eligible for this temporary visa.

As the visa applicant, you must:

have met your Fiance and know him/her personally
be married within 9 months of arriving in Australia

As a Sponsor, you must:

be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
be 18* years or over
not have sponsored another partner within the last 5 years

Partner Visa

If you have a spouse, de facto partner or interdependent partner (same sex partner) who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible for this visa.

You do not gain a permanent residence visa immediately but will be granted a 2 year provisional (temporary) visa until you satisfy the requirements to obtain a permanent visa.

As the visa applicant, you must:

be the spouse, de factor or interdependent partner of the sponsor
be in a genuine and continuing relationship with your partner
be living together and in a mutually exclusive relationship

As a Sponsor, you must:

be the spouse, de factor or interdependent partner of the sponsor
be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
undertake to fulfil the sponsorship obligations required of you

Parent Visas

If you have a child (or children) in Australia you may be eligible for a parent visa provided you pass the balance of family test* and meet other specific criteria. You can be in Australia or outside Australia when you apply.

*Balance of family test: you must have at least half of your children in Australia or a majority of your children in Australia than in any other one country.

Other Family

Child/Adoption/Orphan Relative visas

There are some visa sub classes that cater for Adoption, Orphan Relatives, biological child of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

Carer visa

You may be eligible for a Carer visa if you:

have a relative who is an Australia citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who requires long term, full time care in their home
are willing and able to provide that care

Remaining Relative visas

You may be eligible for this visa if you:

have no other relatives other than one resident in Australia as an Australian citizen or permanent resident and
your relative is willing and able to sponsor you

Aged Dependent Relative visa

As an aged, single person you may be eligible for this visa if you:

are the relative of an Australian citizen or permanent resident
are and have been dependent on your relative for financial support to meet your basic living needs for a reasonable period (usually 3 years)
your relative is willing and able to support you in Australia
